This video is not meant as a critique, but as a crying out of a hurt I have in my heart when it comes to numbers – numbers of decisions, numbers of people getting saved. The Bible says there is joy in heaven when one sinner repents. Why can I not rejoice then, when I hear big numbers of thousands of people there, and tens of thousands of people there, or even ten people there who have “accepted Jesus?”
Why? Because in my mind, I am thinking when I hear all those numbers, ‘But did they really repent?’ Was this really a sinner who repented, or was it just a decision – just a person praying a “sinner’s prayer?”
I’m not saying God can’t use these decisions to lead into a deeper repentance later, or that this can’t be the beginning of people being born again. But, we have a problem. The problem is the way we are speaking! The problem is the numbers we are so fast to give out!
Please see this video. I’m sure many of you out there have this same burden in your heart, and the same frustration I have. Again, this is not said just as a critique. It’s said as a cry out, to all of you out there – let’s change this! Let’s not be too fast with giving out those numbers, and let’s again not only get DECISIONS, but let’s make DISCIPLES, as Jesus has called us to do!
Then Jesus told them this parable:
“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?
And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’
I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
