In this teaching we are looking at what grace is and isn’t, as well as what grace does in our lives.

We look at this too often misunderstood and misquoted verse in the Bible:

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
(Ephesians 2:8‭-‬10)

Some think this verse is saying that grace is saving us, and that repentance, baptism etc… are works.

The truth is, that by God’s grace (free gift), we can be saved (from our sins) through faith (in Jesus and the new birth through repentance, baptism in water and the Holy Spirit). This is not by works (keeping the law of Moses and circumstances) so that we could boast. We are created new in Christ Jesus to do good works (living in obedience to Him, and living a holy life by His Spirit). This is the life God has prepared for us to work in.

We recommend for you to see this, regarding what faith is:

God’s Grace is not a licence to sin – it is the freedom to conquer sin and live a new life!

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only LORD God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
(Jude 1:3-4)
